I hope you had safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve, or are having one right now!

The past two years really kicked my shins out from under me and dashed all the hopes I had for them, so this time around I don't have any expectations 🙃

But I do have plans and soft goals (most of which I was working towards last year, too)! I've been learning a new language and exercising a bunch and I'll continue doing that, I'll also finally get back into doing art studies to hone my skills and learn new things, polish up the way I go about taking and doing commissions, and hopefully at least lay the foundation of becoming a full-time freelancer. Standard capitalism really isn't for me 😂

What are your cautiously hopeful plans for the year? 👀

Overdue Updates

Lately I've gotten a couple of comments on my previous journal, and I realized that I haven't updated y'all on how things have been, so in true "better late than never" fashion, here it is!

We're doing alright now, but hoo boy what a year it's been!

Following the emergency brain surgery, we went through a hellish 1-2 months of post-op care, 2 additional surgeries, and wallet-breaking expenses, all of which took a massive toll on my mental health (I don't think I've recovered yet 🙃 might need therapy). I'm sure it wasn't a cakewalk for the rest of my family, either, but we're not ready to talk about that just yet, we're just trying to enjoy the peace and calmness we all worked so hard to achieve.

The kindness and generosity I experienced from internet friends and strangers alike during the worst of the crisis was mind-blowing, and without exaggeration, life-saving. I'm eternally grateful, and I hope that in the future I'll be in a position to pay it forward.

Y'all may have noticed that, like many others, I've become less active here; I don't post art as frequently as I used to (can't post what I don't draw, right? 😂 Thanks, capitalism!), I only write journals and status updates when something horrible happens, etc. I'm hoping to change at least latter two, I really miss the Vibe™ we had going on around here, so cautiously expect more rambling from me I guess?

There's also that Discord Server I set up a while back if you want to come and hang out!

I have been spending a lot more time on Twitter, too, I find it easier to socialize there for some reason, and I signed up on Buzzly as well. So far it's been nice despite the much lower rate of post engagement. It's got intuitive profile customization and a bunch of neat features that aren't locked behind a paywall (unlike DA lol). Come say hi, if you're feeling like it 👀

This is my third attempt at typing this out, because the Feline Overlord decided now was the appropriate time to walk over the keyboard 😂

Hope y'all have been staying strong through this insanely long, crazy global Situation™. It's been a bit rocky on my end, as you may have noticed, but, all things considered, we're all healthy and safe for now.

Hello, watchers and random visitors!

To break the radio silence on my page, let me give you An Update™ on the Kit-Kat, commissions, and Discord.

The Feline Overlord's surgery was a success, as was the recovery, and now she's just working on growing her impossibly soft fur where it was shaved off!

The whole ordeal took 10 years off my lifespan, but it was worth knowing that she won't have to suffer anymore.

I've been chipping away at the commissions I took on in August, which is a bit of a struggle with a full time job, but I'm managing. I should be done with most or all of them in a couple of weeks, at which point I'll open them again, so if you're planning to get some holiday gift art for yourself and/or your friends, *wink wink* *nudge nudge*
